Boss Town, Chai Tycoon or Corner Office? Our Three Idle Games Compared

Idle games are the ones where you tap a little, buy a lot, and watch the numbers climb even when you put the phone down. We have three of them, and they are more different than they look.

By Zaib · 20 October 2026

"Idle" sounds like a game where nothing happens, but anyone who has played one knows the feeling: you tap a lemonade stand, buy a second one, hire someone to run it, and suddenly it is twenty minutes later and you own a hotel. On Games by Zaib there are three games built around that feeling: Boss Town Tycoon, Chai Tycoon and Corner Office. They all share the same basic loop of earning, buying and growing, but each has its own pace, setting and kind of goal.

We played through them while writing our guides, so here is an honest side-by-side.

Boss Town Tycoon: the big one

Boss Town is our biggest idle game. You start with a single Lemonade Stand on an empty street and build a whole town, one business at a time, from small shops to a Supermarket and a Grand Hotel and beyond. Every business you buy appears in the little town at the top of the screen, with people walking and cars driving past.

What makes it stand out is the number of things to aim for. There are managers who run shops for you, a Rush Hour button that doubles everything for two minutes, Lucky Surprises such as a briefcase of cash or a balloon that boosts income, a Daily Town Gift card with seven stamps, Town Missions that award stars, and Boss Ranks that go from Stall Kid all the way to Galaxy Boss. Later you can bring in investors for a fresh start with a permanent boost.

In our test run the Supermarket opened at around the two-minute mark, and by five minutes the town was making about $540K a second, with the Grand Hotel as the next big target. Things move fast early on, then settle into a satisfying rhythm of saving up for the next milestone.

What we changed after testing: the first playtest showed the middle of the game needed more to do, so a big update added the missions, ranks, daily gift, lucky surprises and the Investor Board. Later updates made the town larger and closer on phones and gave the business list more room, so five full rows fit on a typical phone screen.

Chai Tycoon: cosy and clever

Chai Tycoon takes place on a busy street full of colour. You begin by pouring kulhads of chai at a single roadside stall, and grow into eight businesses: the Chai Stall, Paratha Tawa, Samosa Counter, Lassi Bar, Highway Dhaba, City Cafés, Delivery Fleet and finally Chai Export Co. Rickshaws and delivery bikes fill the road as you grow, and the street turns from day to night.

The heart of Chai Tycoon is milestones. Owning 25, 50, 100 and more of a shop doubles its speed, and getting every shop to certain levels doubles all your profits. That turns "buy more" into a small puzzle: is it better to push one shop to its next milestone or spread your money around?

Fun events pop up while you play, including a Cricket Match Rush that triples all profits, Monsoon Pakora Time and a Wedding Order tap challenge. When progress slows down, you can franchise: you start over, but you earn Stars, and every unspent Star adds 2% profit forever. You can also spend Stars on perks such as Family Recipe, which doubles profits.

Shops with a manager keep earning while you are away, up to a limit that starts at two hours, and a welcome-back message shows what they made. There is also a seven-day daily reward that ends with a permanent Golden Kettle bonus.

Corner Office: a whole career in one sitting

Corner Office is the shortest and silliest of the three. You start as an intern at a tiny desk. Tap the desk to work, hire funny coworkers to earn for you, and play quick office tasks called Coffee Rush, File Frenzy and Inbox Zero for bigger rewards. Fill your performance bar and you are promoted to a new floor with a fancier desk.

It is the only one of the three with a clear ending. In our playthrough the promotions came like this:

RankReached after
Junior Assistant1.6 minutes
Associate3.6 minutes
Team Lead8.6 minutes
Manager10.3 minutes
Vice President14.2 minutes
CEO17.8 minutes

At the top, the game congratulates you with "You are the CEO!" and offers a New Career with a 25% bonus, so you can climb again faster. Golden sticky notes sometimes appear on screen; tapping one gave us about 20 seconds' worth of income. Look out for Kiko the cat at the bottom of the Team list. You have to scroll down to find the office cat.

What we changed after testing: the promotion card used to round its pay numbers down ("Pay x1" when it was really x1.6), so it now shows one decimal. A scroll hint was added to the Team list so nobody misses the coworkers further down, including Kiko.

So which one should you play?

Tips that work in all three

  1. Hire managers (or coworkers) early. Tapping is great at the start, but automatic income is what makes idle games grow.
  2. Aim for milestones. All three games reward reaching certain counts or ranks with big boosts. Check what the next one is before you spend.
  3. Use boosts when your income is highest. Rush Hour in Boss Town and the Cricket Match Rush in Chai Tycoon multiply what you already earn, so they are worth more later.
  4. Don't fear a fresh start. Investors, franchising and New Career all reset your progress, but you come back stronger and move much faster the second time.
  5. Take breaks. These games are made to be visited for a few minutes at a time, and your shops keep working while you are away.

All three are free to play in your browser, with no download, and save your progress on your device automatically.
