Chai Tycoon Guide: From One Roadside Stall to a Chai Empire
Chai Tycoon starts with one chaiwala, one kettle and a street full of thirsty customers. Tap to pour, buy more stalls, open new shops along the bazaar, and hire managers so the whole street runs without you. Here is how our first few minutes went and what we would do differently.

Chai Tycoon is set on a busy South Asian street. The chaiwala pours tea from a height into clay kulhads, customers in kurtas, topis and dupattas wait in line, rickshaws and delivery bikes go past, and the shutters along the bazaar are marked SOON. Each shutter is a business you can open later.
It is an idle game: the numbers grow even when you stop tapping, once you have managers. There are no enemies and no timers you can fail, so it is relaxed to play in short bursts.
Our first few minutes
When we pressed Play, a Daily Chai Bonus card appeared first. Day 1 gives 10 minutes of profits, and the calendar runs up to Day 7, which gives 3 hours of profits plus the Golden Kettle (+10% profit forever). Miss a day and the streak starts over.
Then we tapped the street 30 times. Each tap paid about 1 coin. That is not much, and it was a useful lesson: tapping matters at the very start, but buying is what makes you rich. The game's own hint said the same thing: "Buy another Chai Stall. More stalls = more chai per pour."
We bought 8 more stalls (they start at 4 coins each and slowly get pricier), tapped a bit more, and opened the Paratha Tawa for 60. A few minutes in we had 9 stalls, 1 paratha griddle, and income had jumped from 1.68 to 36 coins a second.
Then the game suggested our first manager. The Tea Master costs 150 and runs the Chai Stall automatically. We hired him, and the next one, the Tawa Ustad, costs 4,000.

How money works
- Tap the street to serve chai. Each tap pays and also starts any shop that is waiting for you.
- Each shop has a progress bar. When it fills, you get paid. Without a manager, a shop stops after each round and waits for a tap.
- BUY buttons can buy x1, x10, x100, up to the NEXT milestone, or MAX.
The eight businesses
| # | Business | What it sells |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Chai Stall | Kulhads of chai |
| 2 | Paratha Tawa | Flaky, buttery parathas off the griddle |
| 3 | Samosa Counter | Crispy triangles with spicy aloo filling |
| 4 | Lassi Bar | Sweet, salty and mango lassi in clay cups |
| 5 | Highway Dhaba | Charpais, karahi and truckers all night |
| 6 | City Cafés | Chai lattes in every big city |
| 7 | Delivery Fleet | Bikes and rickshaws racing hot chai across town |
| 8 | Chai Export Co. | Your masala blend shipped worldwide |
Each one opens a new shop front along the bazaar when you buy it, so the street visibly fills up as you grow.
Milestones: the secret to fast growth
Owning 25, 50, 100, 200, 300 and 400 of a shop doubles its speed. Every shop card shows the next one ("Next at 25: speed x2"). On top of that, getting every shop to 10, 25, 50 and beyond doubles all profits.
So a good habit is to use the NEXT button to buy exactly up to the next milestone, rather than buying one at a time.
Managers
Every shop has its own manager (Tea Master, Tawa Ustad, Samosa Chef and so on). A managed shop runs by itself and keeps earning while you are away, up to an offline limit that starts at 2 hours. When you come back, a welcome-back summary shows what your shops made.
Hire a manager as soon as you can afford one for a shop you use a lot. The Tea Master at 150 coins is the best early buy in the game.
Upgrades
The Upgrades tab has 106 upgrades that multiply profits. The early ones give a feel for it: Sugar Lumps (100, Chai Stall profit x2), Steady Hands (500, tap value x3), Fresh Atta (2,500, Paratha profit x2), Chai Masala (20,000, Chai Stall x3) and Bigger Kettle (150,000, all profits x2).
Events
Now and then a special event starts:
- Cricket Match Rush: a big match on the stall TV. All profits x3 and taps x5.
- Eid Special: Samosa and Lassi x7, all profits x1.5.
- Monsoon Pakora Time: rain means chai. Chai Stall x10, Paratha and Samosa x5.
- Wedding Order: a wedding party wants 30 cups now. Tap the street 30 times in 25 seconds for a big payout.
Also keep an eye out for the golden kulhad floating past. Catch it for a bonus.
Franchise and Stars
Eventually growth slows. That is when the Franchise tab matters. Franchising starts your empire over, but gives you Stars. Every unspent Star adds 2% profit forever, and Stars can also buy permanent perks, such as Family Recipe (all profits x2 per level) and Long Naps (+2 hours of offline earnings per level). Your second run goes much faster than your first.
Tips
- Claim the daily reward every day for the Golden Kettle.
- Tap a lot in the first minute, then stop and buy.
- Hire the Tea Master first.
- Buy to milestones with NEXT.
- Save big upgrades like "All profits x2" for when you can afford them; they beat buying one more shop.
- Do not franchise too early. Wait until the Franchise tab offers a good handful of Stars.
What changed after testing
A graphics pass gave the bazaar more detail. Layout fixes made sure the tabs and shop cards fit on short landscape phone screens, and save checks were added so a damaged save cannot break your empire.
