Sunny Acres Guide: Planting, Animals, Truck Orders and Levelling Up

Sunny Acres is a cosy farm game for kids and grown-ups. You start with a few fields and 40 coins, plant wheat, fill truck orders for friendly villagers, and slowly grow into a farm with animals, a bakery and a loom. Here is how our first few minutes went, plus the numbers that help you plan.

PLAY SUNNY ACRES

Sunny Acres opens on a sunny patch of countryside: a row of brown fields, a red barn, a wooden orders board and a little truck parked by the road. There is no timer to beat and nothing can go wrong. It is a calm, satisfying loop of plant, harvest, deliver and grow.

Our first few minutes

A friendly hint says "Welcome to your farm! Tap an empty field and plant Wheat." Tapping a field opens the seed menu. At level 1 there are two choices: Wheat (2 coins, 15 seconds) and Corn (4 coins, 30 seconds). The other crops are shown with a lock and the level that unlocks them.

We picked Wheat, then kept our finger down and swiped across the other fields. Every field we passed got planted. It is the nicest part of the game: no tapping each field one by one. Our 40 coins dropped to 28.

Fifteen seconds later all six fields were full of golden wheat, gently bouncing. We swiped across them again to harvest, and each field gave 2 wheat.

A new hint popped up: "Farmer Joe wants 4 Wheat. Open Orders and send the truck!" In the Orders panel, Farmer Joe's order showed a green tick next to the wheat. We pressed Send, the truck drove off, and we got 30 coins and 6 XP, plus a cheerful "You are a real farmer now!" message. Coins went from 28 to 58. Selling those 4 wheat in the barn would have made just 16, so orders pay much better than selling.

Every field gives 2 crops, so even Wheat makes a profit. The longer crops are worth more and are ideal to plant before you take a break: crops keep growing while you are away.

Tap a pen to feed the animals from your own crops, then tap again later to collect. This is why it pays to keep some wheat and corn in the barn rather than selling everything.

Buildings and goodies

Four buildings turn crops and animal products into goodies worth much more:

There are 11 goodies in all. A Pumpkin Pie sells for 80 coins and a Sweater for 70, compared with 4 for a bundle of wheat, so buildings are where your farm really starts to earn. Tap a building to start a recipe, then tap again to collect.

Truck orders

Villagers like Farmer Joe and Chef Pip post orders on the board. Each order shows what they want, with a green tick when you have enough, and what they will pay in coins and XP. If an order needs something you cannot make yet, press Skip and a new one arrives after a short wait.

Orders are the fastest way to level up, and levels unlock new crops, animals and buildings.

Tips

  1. Swipe, do not tap. Pick a seed once and swipe over every empty field.
  2. Plant Wheat while you are actively playing, and slower crops like Pumpkin before you leave.
  3. Keep feed in the barn. Chickens need wheat, cows need corn and sheep need carrots.
  4. Check orders before selling. An order usually pays far more than the barn.
  5. Watch your barn space. It starts at 60 items; the Shop sells a bigger barn.
  6. Buy more fields in the Shop as soon as you can. You can grow up to 20 fields.
  7. Drag to look around the farm. Animals and buildings appear beyond the first screen as you unlock them.

For parents

Sunny Acres has no fail state, no fighting and no time pressure. Reading is light, with emoji pictures for every item, so younger children can play with a little help at first. It is a gentle way to practise simple planning: "If I plant corn now, I can feed the cows later."

What changed after testing

A careful round of checks made saves sturdier, made sure orders and buildings always hold valid items, kept the game running smoothly if something unexpected happens, and shortened big coin numbers so they fit. Pop-up messages were also fixed to stay centred on every screen.
