What is Mamak Mart?

Mamak Mart is a shop game set in a Malaysian mamak, the kind of friendly corner restaurant that serves teh tarik and roti canai from early morning until late at night. You play the shop owner. You start with one teh tarik counter and two tables, and you grow it into a busy shop with seven foods, twelve tables, helpers, a cashier and fairy lights.

Everything happens in a small 3D shop that you walk around in with one thumb. There is nothing to buy with real money: every coin is earned by serving customers, and your shop, coins and day are saved on your device.

How to play

  1. Walk. Put your thumb anywhere on the screen and slide it the way you want to go. Let go to stop. On a computer you can also use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D.
  2. Make food. Stand on the yellow mat in front of a counter. Food appears in your hands one piece at a time and piles up until your hands are full.
  3. Serve. Walk up to a customer. The bubble over their head shows what they want and how many. Stand next to them and the right food jumps onto their table.
  4. Pick up the coins. When a customer finishes eating, they leave coins on the table. Walk next to the table to collect them.
  5. Grow the shop. Stand still on a green coin circle to pay for what it shows: a new table, a new food, a helper or an upgrade. You can pay a little at a time and come back later to finish.

A day at the shop

Each day runs from 6:30 in the morning to 11 at night on the clock in the corner, which takes about seven minutes. Two busy times are marked with a banner:

During a rush customers arrive much faster and have a bit less patience. At 11pm the shop closes: no new customers come in, you serve the last ones, and a short summary shows how many people you served and how many coins you earned. Then the next day begins.

The food and what it sells for

FoodPrice
Teh tarik3 coins
Roti canai4 coins
Milo ais5 coins
Nasi lemak6 coins
Cendol6 coins
Mee goreng7 coins
Murtabak9 coins

A customer pays for everything they ordered. If they get their food while their patience bar is still more than about half full, they also leave a tip of a quarter of their bill on top. The Bigger tips upgrade at the end makes tips larger.

What opens, and in what order

New things open one after another, and the next coin circles appear on the floor as you go. The order is always the same:

  1. New table (20), Roti canai (50), New table (45), Nasi lemak (90)
  2. Your first helper (110), Milo ais (150), New table (70), Carry more (80)
  3. Mee goreng (170), New table (110), Second helper (160), Murtabak (220)
  4. Cashier (220), New table (150), Cendol (290), Faster shoes (300)
  5. New table (260), Third helper (400), Faster cooking (420), New table (360)
  6. Carry even more (450), New table (420), Fourth helper (600), Fairy lights (500)
  7. New table (520), Plants (450), New table (600), Bigger tips (900)

Helpers make food and carry it to customers on their own. The cashier collects the coins from tables for you, so you can stay at the counters. Carry more and Carry even more let you hold a bigger pile of food, Faster shoes make you walk faster and Faster cooking makes food appear in your hands sooner.

Tips for happy customers

  1. Fill your hands, then serve. Stand at a counter until your hands are full, then serve several customers in one walk.
  2. Read every bubble on the way. If two customers want the same food, make enough for both before you leave the counter.
  3. Serve the most impatient first. The bar in each bubble shows how long they will wait. A customer whose bar runs out leaves without paying.
  4. Pick up coins as you pass. A table with coins on it cannot take a new customer until the coins are collected.
  5. Get ready before a rush. Just before 7am and 7:30pm, fill your hands with the most popular food so you can serve straight away.
  6. Hire helpers early. The first helper at 110 coins is one of the best buys in the game, especially for the rushes.

Is Mamak Mart good for children?

Yes. There is no chat, no ads during play and nothing to buy. Nobody gets hurt: a customer who waits too long simply walks out looking a little sad. The one-thumb controls are easy for young players, and the shop keeps growing at a gentle pace.

Common questions

Does it work on phones? Yes. Mamak Mart is made for phones first and also works on tablets and computers, upright or sideways. Older or slower phones can take a few seconds to load the shop.

Is my progress saved? Yes, on the device you play on. Your coins, everything you have opened, the day and the time on the clock are kept, so you can stop in the middle of a day.

Can I lose? No. Customers who wait too long leave without paying, but your shop and coins are never taken away.
