Tank Rumble Guide: Keep Rolling, Pick Smart Powers and Beat the Boss Bots
Tank Rumble is a cartoon battle on a toy-room floor. You drive a little green toy tank around a play mat while it fires by itself, popping robot toys into bolts and coins. Our first game ended on stage 1-1. The second got further, and taught us what really matters.

Tank Rumble takes place in a child's bedroom. The arena is a blue play mat on a wooden floor, with giant toy letter blocks (A, B, C, X, Y) to drive around. Your tank is a chunky green toy, and the enemies are wind-up robots and toy tanks. When they are hit, they pop into bolts, gears and coins. There is nothing scary or gory: it is toys against toys.
Our first two games
Game one. We pressed PLAY and drove in short straight bursts: right, up, left, down, stopping between each. The tank's cannon picked targets by itself, but every time we paused, the robots' shots caught up with us. We were "Tank Toppled!" on stage 1-1, with 7 robots popped and 6 coins. The card's tip: "upgrade your tank in the Garage!"
Game two. This time we kept moving in smooth circles around the mat. Wave 1 went much better. In wave 2 the enemy tanks and a pink robot fired glowing shots from different sides, and our health dropped to 37, then 25 out of 100, but we cleared it. "Stage clear! Pick a power" offered three cards: Ricochet (shells bounce off walls), Side Cannons (also fire left and right) and Big Shells (+30% damage). We took one and rolled into stage 1-2 with only a quarter of our health left, and were toppled there with 20 robots popped and 17 coins.
The two lessons:
- Never stop moving. The cannon aims for you, so all your attention can go on dodging.
- Only a little health comes back between stages (15% of your maximum). If you are low, the Repair Kit power (heal 50%) is often the best pick, and red heart pickups restore 35%.

How to play
- Drag anywhere to drive. The tank goes the way you drag.
- Your tank aims and fires by itself. You can switch aiming in the menu, but Auto is easiest.
- Pick up the coins and power-ups that robots drop.
- Each chapter has 5 stages. Stages 1 and 2 have 2 waves, stages 3 and 4 have 3, and stage 5 is the boss fight.
Know your robots
| Robot | What it does | How to handle it |
|---|---|---|
| Bumper | Rushes straight at you | Circle away, it has little health |
| Toy tank | Keeps its distance, fires single shots | Keep moving sideways |
| Triple | Fires a spread of three shots | Move between the gaps, or behind a block |
| Sniper | Fast aimed shots from far away | Never drive in a straight line toward it |
| Spinner | Big and tough, fires rings of shots | Stay further away and keep circling |
The 12 powers
After each stage you choose one of three powers:
| Power | Effect | Our view |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-shot | +1 extra cannon ball (up to 3) | Excellent, take it early |
| Quick Reload | Fire 25% faster | Excellent |
| Big Shells | +30% damage | Great against bosses |
| Ricochet | Shells bounce off walls | Good in small arenas |
| Pierce | Shells pass through 1 robot | Good against packs |
| Thick Armour | +25% max health, and heals | Great when you are low |
| Turbo Treads | Drive 15% faster | Helps dodging |
| Star Orbit | Spinning stars guard you | Great against Bumpers |
| Side Cannons | Also fire left and right | Good when surrounded |
| Repair Kit | Heal 50% now | Take it when health is under half |
| Coin Magnet | Pull coins from far away | Nice, not urgent |
| Frosty Shells | Hits slow robots down | Good for boss fights |
How stars are earned
You earn stars for winning a chapter (beating its boss):
- 1 star for winning,
- 2 stars if the total damage you took was less than one and a half times your max health,
- 3 stars if it was less than half your max health.
So 3 stars means getting through all five stages, boss included, while barely being hit. Winning also pays a coin bonus that grows with each chapter.
The four chapters and bosses
| Chapter | Boss |
|---|---|
| 1. Toy Room | King Bolt |
| 2. Sandbox Beach | Crab-o-Tron |
| 3. Snow Fort | Frosty Mega |
| 4. Candy Factory | Gummy Goliath |
Beat a chapter to unlock the next one.
The Garage
Coins buy upgrades and new tanks.
Upgrades (10 levels each): Cannon (+15% damage), Armour (+12% health), Engine (+5% speed) and Reload (+8% fire rate). The first level costs 60 coins, then 87, 126, 183 and so on, getting pricier each time.
Tanks:
| Tank | Style | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Rookie | All-round champ | Free |
| Blaze | Super fast reload | 600 |
| Tanko | Huge armour, big shells | 1,500 |
| Sparky | Twin bouncy cannons | 3,000 |
Our tip: put your first coins into Armour. More health means you finish more stages, and finishing stages earns more coins for everything else.
Tips for parents
Tank Rumble is a simple one-finger action game. The theme is toys and robots, nothing realistic. Rounds are short, and losing just shows a friendly "Tank Toppled!" card with a Play again button.
