What is Kedim Blocks?

Kedim Blocks is a block puzzle you can pick up in a few seconds. At the bottom of the screen you get three clay blocks in different shapes: a single square, short bars, small corners, a big square and more. Drag a block onto the 8 by 8 board and drop it wherever it fits. When a whole row or a whole column is full, it pops away with a happy meow and you get points.

When all three blocks are used, three new ones arrive. The game ends when none of your blocks fit anywhere on the board, so the real skill is keeping enough room for whatever comes next. Kedim sits beside the board and cheers you on, and looks a little sad when the board fills up.

There is nothing to buy and no timer. Your progress, best scores and stars are saved on your device.

Three ways to play

Endless. The classic game. Place blocks, pop lines and keep going for as long as you can. Your best score is saved, and if you leave in the middle of a game you can continue it later. Early blocks are small and friendly, and bigger shapes join in as your score climbs.

Daily. Every day there is a new board that starts with a little picture already made of blocks. Everyone gets the same board on the same day, so it is a nice one to compare with friends and family. Playing on several days in a row builds a day streak.

Adventure. Forty levels on a map, each with one clear goal shown at the top of the screen:

Each level gives one to three stars. Win in fewer moves for more stars. You can always go back and play a level again to improve your stars.

Adventure level 7 with a goal of 3 fish at the top, two almost full rows near the bottom holding the fish, and three clay blocks waiting below
Adventure: pop the rows that hold the fish
The Adventure map with level 1 open, the other levels locked and a star counter of 0 out of 120
The Adventure map: 40 levels, up to 120 stars
The Daily board starting with a small picture made of yellow blocks
Daily: a new picture board every day
The Daily board result showing a score of 4,321, a New best badge, 1 day in a row and a Play again button
Daily results with your day streak

How the fish levels get harder

The early fish levels are made to be gentle. Up to level 10 the fish wait on rows near the bottom that are already almost full, so a single well placed block pops the row and frees the fish. You only need two or three fish, the blocks stay small, and if you get stuck Kedim's paw sweeps away a couple of rows that have no fish in them so you can keep playing. Young children who place blocks almost anywhere can still get through these first levels.

From level 11 the fish are spread around the board, more squares are already filled when the level starts, and bigger blocks appear. By the last levels you need up to nine fish and the board starts quite full, so these levels need real planning. If a level feels too hard, try it again: the starting board stays the same, and a different first move leads to a different game.

Scoring and combos

You get one point for every square you place. Popping lines gives much more, and popping two, three or four lines with one block gives a big bonus. Pop lines on moves close together and you start a combo, which multiplies the points for each new pop. Clearing the whole board gives an extra 300 points.

Tips for bigger scores

  1. Look at all three blocks first. Before you drop the first block, think about where the other two will go. Sometimes the order matters a lot.
  2. Keep the middle open. The big 3 by 3 square and the long bars need space. Fill the edges and corners first.
  3. Do not leave single holes. A one-square gap in a row can only be filled by the tiny single block, which does not come very often.
  4. Pop often. Popping a line every few moves keeps your combo alive and the board tidy.
  5. In fish levels, aim at the fish. Build rows and columns that run through the fish rather than popping lines in empty parts of the board.
  6. Watch the blocks that do not fit. A block that cannot go anywhere turns grey, which is a warning to make room for it.

Block skins

Kedim Blocks has three looks for the blocks: the plain clay blocks, a Batik set with patterned blocks and a Kuih set that looks like colourful layered cakes. You earn them just by playing: Batik opens at Adventure level 10 or after popping 120 lines, and Kuih opens at level 25 or after 400 lines. Nothing is ever sold.

Is Kedim Blocks good for children?

Yes. There is no chat, no ads during play and nothing to buy. The early Adventure levels are made so that young children can win them, and Kedim's helping paw stops the first levels from ending too soon. Older players and adults will find the later Adventure levels, the Daily board and a high Endless score a proper challenge.

Common questions

Does it work on phones? Yes. Kedim Blocks is made for phones first and also works on tablets and computers, upright or sideways. On a computer, drag the blocks with the mouse.

Is my progress saved? Yes, on the device you play on. Your stars, best scores, skins and an unfinished Endless game are all kept.

Why did my game end? The game ends when none of the three blocks fit anywhere on the board. Keep a few open spaces of different shapes and it happens much later.
