Critter Keep Rescue Guide: Sneak Past the Bandits, Hatch Eggs and Merge Critters
Critter Keep Rescue mixes gentle sneaking with critter collecting. Cheeky raccoon bandits have borrowed your critters, and you tiptoe through hedge mazes to bring them home, then hatch eggs and merge critters in your cosy keep. Level 1 caught us out more than once. Here is what we learned.

Critter Keep Rescue is soft and friendly from top to bottom. Your keep is a little garden of tree stumps where round, colourful critters live and earn coins. The bandits are grey raccoons in masks, and when they catch you they just giggle: "Gotcha! Hehe!", "Tag, you're it!". Then you go back to the start. Nobody gets hurt.
Our first rescue attempt
The game starts in your Keep with two critters already living there: Pipkin (a bunny who "loves hopping on wooden pads") and Mossy (a blob with a sprout on its head). A help card explains everything, and then the Rescue Lv 1 button takes you to the map.
Level 1, Meadow Hollow is a small hedge maze with wooden crates, flowering bushes and coins on the grass. You start on the HOME mat at the bottom. A raccoon bandit patrols near the middle, and in front of him is a yellow cone: that is what he can see.
We walked up the left side and stepped into a bush. "Hiding in a bush! Bandits can't see you here." From there we spotted the critter's cage in the top-left corner, tucked behind a hedge. Our first try to reach it straight across failed: the hedge blocks the way, and you have to go around.
On the way back we got careless. The raccoon had wandered down towards the start, we walked straight into his cone, and: "Caught! Back to HOME you go." He caught us right next to the home mat.
The lessons:
- Watch the cone, not the raccoon. Bandits turn, and the cone swings with them.
- Bushes are safe spots. Hop from bush to bush and wait for the cone to swing away.
- Plan the route before you move. Cages are often behind hedges, so look for the way round.

Controls
- Drag anywhere to move (or use the arrow keys or WASD on a computer).
- Tap DASH for a quick burst of speed. It has a short cooldown.
- Careful: dashing through a bush does not hide you. You are only hidden while you are standing or walking in it.
How stars work
Each rescue level gives up to 3 stars, based on how many times you were caught:
| Times caught | Stars |
|---|---|
| Never | 3 stars |
| 1 or 2 | 2 stars |
| 3 or more | 1 star |
You always finish the level in the end, so younger players never get stuck. Replaying a level for 3 stars still pays coins, just less than the first clear.
The six biomes
There are 36 levels in six biomes of six, each worth up to 18 stars:
| Biome | Look |
|---|---|
| Meadow Hollow | Hedges and flowers |
| Whisper Woods | Trees and falling leaves, a little darker |
| Sunny Shore | Sand and water |
| Frosty Peaks | Ice and snow |
| Canyon Dunes | Red rock and dust |
| Moonlit Town | Houses at night, with fireflies |
The last level of each biome is a tougher boss level, which pays double coins.
Eggs and merging
Coins from your keep and from rescues buy eggs:
| Egg | Cost | What hatches |
|---|---|---|
| Meadow Egg | 150 | Mostly Common, some Uncommon, rarely Rare |
| Fancy Egg | 900 | Uncommon to Epic, a tiny chance of Legendary |
| Royal Egg | 5,000 | Rare, Epic or Legendary (10% Legendary) |
Merge two of the same critter to get a critter of the next rarity. A little badge appears on the Merge button whenever you can merge.
There are 30 critters across five rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary. Rarer critters earn far more coins in your keep. The three Legendaries are Sunny Drake, Aurora Fawn and Cosmo. The Book shows every critter you have found.
Defending your keep
After you clear Level 2, bandits start sneaking into your keep to borrow critters. Tap a bandit to shoo it away. In Defend you can build:
| Defence | Levels | Cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Picket Fence | 5 | 250 to 10,000 | Bandits take longer to climb in |
| Alarm Bell | 3 | 400 to 5,000 | Rings early and slows sneaky paws |
| Guard Puppy | 3 | 800 to 9,000 | Chases bandits away by itself |
Our tip: build the first Picket Fence level early, then save for the Guard Puppy, which protects the keep while you are away.
