Haulway Heroes Guide: Drive Smoothly, Dock the Trailer and Earn More per Job
Haulway Heroes is a 3D truck-driving career. You start in Port Bayu with a small cab-over truck and $6,000, pick contracts from the job board, drive real roads with traffic lights and toll gates, and finish by reversing a long trailer into a loading bay. Here is how our first delivery began and what earns the most money.

Haulway Heroes is a big, calm driving game. The roads run through tropical coast, farmland, cities, deserts, misty forests, red canyons and snowy passes, with a full day and night cycle, rain, fog and snow. You will meet traffic, traffic lights, gas stations, weigh stations, toll gates and speed cameras.
It suits patient players. The skill is not speed, it is driving smoothly and parking well.
Our first delivery
The title screen shows your money ($6,000), your level (Lv 1) and your home city, Port Bayu. The Job Board has a map of routes and a list of contracts. Most were locked for us: Fuel Tanker needs level 2 or 9 depending on the route, and New Cars need level 3. At the top of the list is the Guided first delivery ($1,500): "Learn to drive, pass a toll and back into a dock."
We took it. The truck starts at the depot gate with a white box trailer behind it, and a tip says: "Welcome, driver! Hold the GAS pedal (bottom right) to roll out of the depot." We held GAS, and the speedometer climbed: 20 km/h, then 42, then 53. The tips kept coming at the right moments:
- "Steer with the wheel on the left. Lane Assist keeps you centred when you let go."
- "BRAKE is left of the gas pedal. Watch the speed-limit sign on the minimap!"
The top of the screen shows the destination and distance (Kotaraya, 1.9 km, then 1.7 km) and warns about what is coming: "Traffic light 150 m". The city looked great: buildings on both sides, parked cars and traffic in the other lane.
The lesson from that first run: don't just hold GAS. In a city the speed limit and traffic lights come quickly, and a heavy truck takes a long time to slow down. Ease off early.

Controls
| Action | Phone | Keyboard |
|---|---|---|
| Gas and brake | GAS and BRAKE pedals | Up/Down or W/S |
| Steer | Wheel, tilt, or arrow buttons (choose in Settings) | Left/Right or A/D |
| Drive or reverse | D/R button | R |
| Manual gears | + and − | Z and X |
| Handbrake | P | Space |
| Horn, indicators, lights | Buttons | H, Q/E, L |
| Cruise control | CC | K |
| Camera | Camera button | C |
The gearbox is automatic unless you choose manual. There are chase, cab and top cameras, plus a rear-view mirror.
How your pay is worked out
At the end of a job the game adds up:
- the base pay for the contract,
- a bonus or penalty for time,
- a penalty for cargo damage,
- a parking bonus for how well you docked,
- a comfort bonus (important for livestock),
- any Daily bonus,
and then takes away fines. So a fast but messy delivery can pay less than a slow, clean one.
How to avoid fines
- Keep to the speed limit, especially near speed cameras.
- Stop at red lights.
- Slow down for toll gates.
- Pull into weigh stations when asked.
- Refuel at gas stations before the tank runs dry.
Cargo types
| Cargo | Pay | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| General Goods | Standard | Easy to start with |
| Electronics | ×1.3 | Handle with care: damage counts double |
| Fragile Glass | ×1.45 | Damage counts triple. Avoid bumps and harsh braking |
| Livestock | ×1.4 | Harsh braking, speeding up and sharp turns stress the animals |
| Fuel Tanker | ×1.55 | Fuel sloshes in turns. A heavy crash ends the job |
| Timber Logs | ×1.3 | Very heavy, so hills are slow |
| New Cars | ×1.5 | Don't scratch them |
| Oversized Machine | ×2.1 | Follow the escort car, maximum 60 km/h |
Some jobs say RENTED −25%: you don't own the right trailer yet, so the pay is lower. Buying the trailer in the Garage removes that cut.
Driving a long trailer
- Take corners wide and slowly. A trailer cuts inside the corner, so swing out before you turn.
- Hairpins in the mountains: slow right down before the bend, not in it.
- In reverse, small steering moves only. Turning too sharply can jackknife the trailer.
Docking
At the depot, stop, tap D to switch to R, and back the trailer into the glowing bay. The dock panel shows how well you are lined up. If it is going wrong, drive forward a little to straighten up and try again. Auto-park lets the yard crew do it for you, for a smaller bonus. The Parking menu has 8 parking challenges, such as Tight Yard, which are great practice.
Cities, trucks and trailers
There are 8 cities, opening as you level up: Port Bayu, Kotaraya and Greenvale (level 1), Lahara ("famous for its art trucks", level 3), Sahra Wells (4), Mistpine (5), Frostholm (7) and Redrock (9).
| Truck | Level | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Rookie 4x2 | 1 | Free |
| Metro Cabover | 2 | $38,000 |
| Rangeela Art Truck | 3 | $52,000 |
| Prairie Longnose | 4 | $76,000 |
| Highline Flagship | 6 | $98,000 |
| Titan 8x4 Heavy | 8 | $140,000 |
| Volt E-Hauler | 10 | $175,000 |
The Rangeela Art Truck is the showpiece: hand-painted panels, a wooden crown, chains and bells. Trailers cost from $18,000 (Livestock) to $48,000 (Lowboy). The Shop has paint, decals, lights and horns.
